Session One - The Great Apple Pie Quest

[2023/03/27 15:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: Sapphire (Debben) and Mecha (Leesha) have been sent by a wizard to get some apple pies. They're on the way back.
[2023/03/27 15:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: They've stopped at an inn, and have been attacked by someone, who they killed.
[2023/03/27 15:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: Ingelin was invited to the conversation.
[2023/03/27 15:37] Alicia Frakture: Leesha is a half orc fighter and her weapon is a large wrench. She likes to cook and fix stuff.
[2023/03/27 15:38] Sonja Bikergrrl: The inn is where they'll stay before continuing on to the wizard tomorrow (in game time, that is)
[2023/03/27 15:38] Sonja Bikergrrl: They found a scroll on their attacker with a message in a language they don't understand.
[2023/03/27 15:39] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben is a dwarven illusionist, she carries a spear and some thick clothing. She is not always the 'nicest' person you'll ever meet.

[2023/03/27 15:41] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I could do with a good hot meal," Debben says, likely already seated. "How much for a bowl?"
[2023/03/27 15:42] Alicia Frakture: Leesha is looking at the pot and licks her lips, before realizing something." I need to get a room before I can eat."
[2023/03/27 15:42] Sonja Bikergrrl: The innkeepers' wife flashes you a smile. "Free for you two, dearies! Would you like the same rooms as the other day?"
[2023/03/27 15:42] Alicia Frakture: Yes please
[2023/03/27 15:43] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "They were quite lovely," she flatters, nodding in agreement.
[2023/03/27 15:43] Alicia Frakture: Leesha is going to go to her room and hide away the pies, before coming back for food
[2023/03/27 15:44] Sonja Bikergrrl: The innkeepers wife nods, and the two kids come out with bowls for you, and two helpings of apple stew are doled out (That generous tip from before from Leesha was remembered, clearly). What about the scroll? Any thoughts?
[2023/03/27 15:45] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben, sipping at her hot stew and keeping an eye out for anyone else who might be trying to approach, ponders on the scroll. Some sort of librarian or archeologist is probably their best bet. Does she know of any in the city?
[2023/03/27 15:46] Sonja Bikergrrl: There's probably libraries, scholars, that sort, but the city is a day away, so that will take time. Now, if there was a bard in the inn... like... the one in the corner, sipping an ale and telling a story to a group of young children....
[2023/03/27 15:47] Sonja Bikergrrl: (For Ingelin: Bards are travelling performers, who know a -lot- of things)

[2023/03/27 15:48] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben listens in on the story while eating, trying to estimate the skill of this bard that may be around.
[2023/03/27 15:49] Sonja Bikergrrl: It sounds like a story about someone who planted a bean and wound up fighting a giant. It sounds a -little- far fetched... but the kids are standing with wide eyes and open mouths
[2023/03/27 15:50] Alicia Frakture: Leesha watches as well, before realizing her bowl is empty."May I have another bowl? this is wonderful."
[2023/03/27 15:51] Sonja Bikergrrl: The elder son of the innkeeper is torn between the story and doing an errand for a generous tipper. He finally dashes off, returns with great speed, with another bowl
[2023/03/27 15:54] Ingelin: Calien notices the attentions of the figures at the other corner, but ignores it and goes on with the children
[2023/03/27 15:55] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Not like we're in a rush," Debben says, asking for a hunk of bread to go with her stew and waiting for the story to come to it's natural conclusion.
[2023/03/27 15:56] Alicia Frakture: /me shares her bread so the others can listen to the story
[2023/03/27 15:56] Sonja Bikergrrl: The elder kid hops from foot to foot, then nudges his younger brother and waves at him. Wailing about it not being fair, he runs off, returns with two slices of bread
[2023/03/27 15:59] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: /me didn't mean to ask the kids to do it! than again maybe that's just how the inn works.
[2023/03/27 15:59] Sonja Bikergrrl: It is! The bard finally comes to the climax, where the hero, Jack, defeats the big bad giant.
[2023/03/27 16:01] Alicia Frakture: does the bard have a tip basket?
[2023/03/27 16:02] Sonja Bikergrrl: There is indeed a bowl nearby, with a few coppers in it.
[2023/03/27 16:02] Alicia Frakture: Leesha is going to toss in a silver
[2023/03/27 16:03] Sonja Bikergrrl: That's a very generous tip, easily doubling the value of the bowl
[2023/03/27 16:03] Ingelin: Calien is attracted to the glitter of money
[2023/03/27 16:03] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben nods, letting Leesha cover the attention.
[2023/03/27 16:04] Alicia Frakture: Leesha sits back at the table."I could go for an ale please."
[2023/03/27 16:05] Sonja Bikergrrl: The innkeeper looks up from cleaning a glass. "Two ales? It'll be two coppers."
[2023/03/27 16:05] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben slides the coins over.
[2023/03/27 16:06] Sonja Bikergrrl: You get two coppers... while the kids all wander away, back to their families, the story over
[2023/03/27 16:07] Alicia Frakture: Leesha brings out 3 coppers an ale for the bard and a tip
[2023/03/27 16:07] Ingelin: Calien finally sits down on a bench, covers her head with the hood, rests in the shade
[2023/03/27 16:07] Sonja Bikergrrl: Now Ingelin gets a drink and a tip too.
[2023/03/27 16:08] Ingelin: Calien raises her head in amazement: what do I owe all this to?
[2023/03/27 16:10] Alicia Frakture: Leesha motioned to the kids that were enraptured in the story."You made people happy."
[2023/03/27 16:10] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben smiles, and gets a bit more to business. "We're hoping you might have.... atypical knowledge that can help us. How are you with languages?"
[2023/03/27 16:11] Sonja Bikergrrl: (Bards often know a lot of little things... not necessarily enough to have a conversation, but enough to understand something, usually)
[2023/03/27 16:12] Ingelin: Calien nods while muttering something in a strange language. Thirsty, she grabs the carafe and gulps down the amber liquid, then thanks: I'm good at giving pleasure, and my job helps me in unusual languages
[2023/03/27 16:13] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "We have a scroll we've been trying to figure out. It's not magical, but the language is not one we know."
[2023/03/27 16:14] Ingelin: "let me have a look!"
[2023/03/27 16:15] Alicia Frakture: /me blinks for a moment at the phrasing, before watching the interaction
[2023/03/27 16:16] Ingelin: ((did i something wrong?))

[2023/03/27 16:17] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben retrieves the strange scroll they recovered from the desperate man trying to kill them, and it's weird glyphs, setting it down well clear of any wet spots on the table.

[2023/03/27 16:19] Ingelin: Calien moves the candle to shed some light, being careful not to get it too close to the scroll, reads the contents, then looks up at the two figures in front of him: "Where did you get this scroll?"
[2023/03/27 16:21] Alicia Frakture: There was a bakery, and goblins. Long story.
[2023/03/27 16:22] Ingelin: "your names? it is quite important you tell me your names"
[2023/03/27 16:22] Sonja Bikergrrl: (A long story to a bard would be 1,001 nights - a story that lasted over three years...)

[2023/03/27 16:23] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Debben," she answers with a sigh, suspecting this is about to go quiet sour.
[2023/03/27 16:23] Ingelin: "and maybe your fellos is Debben"
[2023/03/27 16:24] Alicia Frakture: Oh that is so not good is it
[2023/03/27 16:24] Ingelin: "i know this could be a long story, let me do a magic trick with you" she waits smiling their reaction

[2023/03/27 16:26] Ingelin: "I could affirm easily that you got this scroll by someone who tried to kill you, isn't it right?"
[2023/03/27 16:28] Alicia Frakture: Leesha sighs and can not help but nod."Yeah but that has happened a lot."

[2023/03/27 16:32] Ingelin: "i am a wizard bard, i know the past and i know a bit of the future" she smiles then goes on saying:" The future is that you will have to thank me with another beer' cause i am about to not report or kill you myslef. This scroll is a bounty notice...100 golden pieces for your death"
[2023/03/27 16:34] Alicia Frakture: Leesha motions for another round of ale for them paying with a silver.'Keep the change." before looking at the bard."Does it say who is paying or why?"
[2023/03/27 16:34] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Steep numbers," she replies. "Who are they supposed to collect the coins from?"
[2023/03/27 16:35] Sonja Bikergrrl: The eldest kid takes the silver, his eyes and mouth wide Os, then he dashes away, to return with three tankards of ale
[2023/03/27 16:37] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben has a growing suspicion that Leesha doesn't understand how much things are worth.
[2023/03/27 16:38] Sonja Bikergrrl: (Maybe she does, and is successfully "buying" loyalty!)

[2023/03/27 16:39] Ingelin: Calien stops a little more on the scroll, muttering strange words....trying to remember in her mind...."No i am not that good to understand all the words, it is said but i can't read it...but i know it is a evil creatures language"
[2023/03/27 16:41] Alicia Frakture: Do you know what the language is or where it came from?
[2023/03/27 16:42] Sonja Bikergrrl: (Being the language of evil creatures, chances are it's a fairly rare language. It's not like they'll teach it openly)
[2023/03/27 16:42] Alicia Frakture: *Leesha knows money, but also knows being financially nice when you can afford it is a good thing and since she is Chaotic good...*

[2023/03/27 16:44] Sonja Bikergrrl: (An example of a common evil language would be Thieves Cant, which is full of implied meanings and double meanings, it varies wildly since there is no set "standard", it's a very specific-to-a-locale language that is known of, but not known by the populace at large)
